LEVELUP Climate Tech Appoints Shigeo Taniuchi as Co-founder & CEO

Singapore, 31 August 2023 – LEVELUP Climate Tech Pte. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “LEVELUP”) is pleased to announce that Shigeo Taniuchi, the former CEO of Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., has joined LEVELUP as Co-founder & CEO.

Shigeo Taniuchi has a distinguished career of over 25 years at Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a leading pharmaceutical company specialised in ophthalmology. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving people’s health and contributing to society through the life sciences, leading the company to grow its business globally. Upon his arrival, LEVELUP gains not only strong leadership to mobilise the company but also professional expertise and a network to accelerate its journey towards SUSTAINABLE FOODS FOR NEXT GENERATIONS.

About Shigeo Taniuchi

Shigeo Taniuchi joined Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. In 1996, and since then he contributed to the company’s growth in various roles, including sales, corporate planning, and as head of overseas commercial operations in China and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as senior corporate positions such as Corporate Officer and Board member. In 2018, he was appointed as Representative Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO), and in 2020, he became the Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), showcasing his accomplishments in driving the company’s globalisation, diversity management, and evolution of ESG management.In 2023, he joined LEVELUP as Co-founder & CEO. 
He graduated from Faculty of Science (Chemistry) at Rikkyo University (JP), and holds a master’s degree in business (MBA) from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School (UK).

About Yuya Kuratomi

Yuya Kuratomi, an accomplished serial entrepreneur of the new generation in Japan, established Cocon Inc. (now GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae Inc.) in 2013 while still a university student. He successfully secured approximately 6 billion JPY in equity funding from government-backed funds like JIC Venture Growth Investments, Z Venture Capital, and others. He launched a cybersecurity start-up and worked towards its growth from inception to late-stage development, eventually selling it to GMO Internet Group for approximately 20 billion JPY in February 2022. In August 2022, he moved to Singapore and dedicated himself to the establishment and launch of LEVELUP.
He left the School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University (JP), and received recognition for his entrepreneurship, including Forbes Asia U30 awards.
